AEM Induction Systems is the company that effectively invented the modern cold air intake. Founded in 1987 in Hawthorne, California by John Concialdi (J.C.) and Bob Sullivan as a tuning shop for vintage cars and the emerging sport compact scene, AEM released its first packaged air intake kit in 1994 for the Honda CRX — and the aftermarket has never gone back. AEM coined the phrase "cold air intake," developed the first dual chamber intake systems for broader RPM coverage, engineered the air bypass valve to prevent hydro-lock on low-mounted filters, and built one of the first hybrid intake systems for engine-swapped cars. Three decades in, AEM still designs and tests every system in California.
We carry the AEM Induction catalog: Cold Air Intakes for Honda, Acura, Toyota, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Mustang, Camaro, F-150, Charger/Challenger, and most other tuner and performance platforms — Brute Force intakes for trucks and SUVs, Dual Chamber intakes for broader power bands, Short Ram intakes for tight engine bays, Electronically Tuned Intakes (ETI) that solve MAF sensor scaling problems on modified setups, replacement Dryflow synthetic air filters (washable, reusable, no oiling required), and the silicone couplers, MAF adapters, and air bypass valves that complete the install.
Yes. We source AEM Induction products through authorized US distribution. Every intake, air filter, and induction component ships in original AEM packaging with the AEM yellow logo, part number, fitment documentation, and manufacturer warranty intact. AEM counterfeits show up occasionally on auction sites — usually fake Dryflow filters with poor filtration media that defeats the whole point of upgrading. Buying through a legitimate retailer is the only reliable way to get a real AEM product that actually performs to spec, holds its CARB Executive Order (EO) for emissions compliance where applicable, and qualifies for AEM's warranty.
Most in-stock AEM Induction systems ship within 1 to 3 business days from US warehousing. Popular Honda, Civic, Type R, Subaru WRX/STI, Mustang, Camaro, and F-150 intake applications are typically stocked. Less common fitments, full Brute Force truck systems, and specialty ETI variants may have a 1 to 2 week lead time. Replacement Dryflow filters and induction accessories (silicone couplers, MAF adapters, hose clamps) typically ship same or next business day. We confirm exact stock and ETA at order placement.
AEM Induction products carry the manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship — and Dryflow filters carry AEM's lifetime warranty (one of the strongest in the industry). Returns on unused, uninstalled intakes and induction components in original packaging are accepted within 30 days. Once an intake has been installed on a vehicle or a filter has been put into service, items are no longer returnable. Defective products are covered through AEM, and Kami Speed processes warranty claims on your behalf.
Many AEM cold air intakes carry CARB Executive Order (EO) numbers, which means they are legal for street use on emissions-controlled vehicles in California and other states with CARB-equivalent emissions laws (NY, CO, ME, etc.). However, NOT every AEM intake is CARB-approved — some are sold for off-road, race, or track use only. The CARB EO status is listed on each AEM product page on Kami Speed and on AEM's part documentation. If you live in a CARB state and your vehicle is subject to smog inspection, verify the EO number before purchase. If you're in a non-CARB state or building a track car, this is less critical. We're happy to help confirm CARB compliance for your specific vehicle and intake combination.
